Fresh off their recent tour of Italy in July of 2019, Catharsis Winds has accepted the positions of artists and teachers in residence with the International Music Project. This collaboration has already proved to be an incredible artistically fulfilling venture and a gift which Catharsis is planning to share with students and audiences around the world for the foreseeable future.
As a result, Catharsis Winds, in partnership with the International Music Project, presents the International Music School, a wind chamber music training program for the highest quality young chamber musicians. The program is a chance for the next generation of wind players to hone their chamber music skills and capabilities through one-on-one coaching, playing, and mentorship with Catharsis, in the international touring setting. The school and training program will be open to one flutist, one oboist, one clarinetist, one hornist, and one bassoonist who will comprise a student quintet. This quintet will receive coachings from Catharsis, perform in double quintets alongside Catharsis, and give their own recitals across Italy in some of the most breathtaking venues, all over the course of a 2 week tour of Italy. While in Pesaro, the students will also perform alongside Catharsis as members of the International Wind Ensemble.
Performances for Catharsis Winds and the student quintet will be in renowned basilicas and venues such as St. Mark's in Venice, the Basilica of Santa Maria della Consolazione in Todi, various private homes around Lake Como, and the Conservatorio di Rossini in Pesaro. The tuition cost will cover all transportation (flights, trains, vans) as well as housing in each city. Students will be accompanied by a full-time chaperone throughout the entirety of the tour.
Currently, the festival and school are in the planning stages, but please check this page regularly as more information becomes available. If you have any questions or would like to reach out, please email us here.
